Life’s magic emerges when we reconnect — to ourselves, to others, and to shared purpose

I’ve been having some wonderful conversations lately.

They’ve had me reflecting on what allows us to feel alive, connected, and part of something. What creates a sense of belonging. What lets us learn from one another in ways we can’t always reach on our own.

A friend recently spoke about a ski weekend in the Alps with a group of people and reflected on why it felt so meaningful. He was able to name a few simple ingredients.

The environment mattered — being outdoors, in nature, somewhere that allowed people to feel grounded and present.
The community mattered — a group coming together, sharing space and attention.
And the shared experience mattered — doing something together, creating a common rhythm.

It made me realise how often our most memorable and meaningful experiences are shaped by some version of these same elements.

When we’re in environments that support us, we tend to settle. We feel more ourselves.
When we’re in community, something else opens. There is a larger wisdom that becomes available — not owned by any one person, but emerging through connection.

There’s another ingredient too.

Connection to ourselves. Knowing what gives us meaning. What makes us feel alive, comfortable, grounded, inspired. When we’re connected in that way, we’re better able to recognise the people and communities that feel aligned — the ones that speak to us, the ones that feel like our tribe.

And sometimes it works the other way around.

When we feel lost or disconnected from ourselves, finding the right community can be a way back. Through shared experiences, shared energy, and being with others, we begin to come home to ourselves again.

In my work, I often meet people who are surrounded by others and yet feel alone. As we move into a more digital world, human connection can start to feel unfamiliar. Even uncomfortable. And yet the need for it hasn’t gone anywhere.

So perhaps the invitation is simple.
To pay attention to the environments we place ourselves in.
To the people we gather with.
And to our relationship with ourselves.

Because when these elements come together — environment, community, shared experience, and connection to self — something quietly powerful happens. We reconnect. To ourselves. To others. And to something shared.
